Howe, Clinton, and Burgoyne Arrive in Boston
May 25, 1775
Generals William Howe, Henry Clinton, and John Burgoyne arrive in Boston to take command of British forces. They join existing troops and begin assessing the situation in and around the town.
The conflict that began in Massachusetts now draws senior leadership from Britain. Reinforcements and direction arrive together, as plans are formed for how to proceed against colonial forces gathering outside Boston.
Command is strengthened as the scale of the conflict grows.
